Body Control Module Repair Cost

The body control module is an electronic device responsible for controlling, analyzing, and monitoring various electrical components of a car. From the power windows, mirrors, air conditioner, central locks, many internal parts depend on the body control module for normal functioning.

This should tell you that all these electronically-assisted parts will get negatively affected when the body control module won’t work as it’s supposed to. When a car starts behaving erratically on its own, it usually means an issue with the body control module. It will definitely require your attention.

Midas$200 - $350
Pep Boys$185 - $345

Depending on how long it takes to rewire the car, the labor fee can fluctuate between $100 to $125. The part will cost you approximately $150 or so. As for the time taken to conduct the repair, give the mechanic at least an hour to fix everything. Sometimes, it can take a bit longer too.

Body Control Module Repair Procedure

First and foremost, the mechanic will thoroughly inspect the car as the problem could be something else. Because of the common symptoms, it’s often easy to misdiagnose a body control module problem with something else. Once it’s detected that the problem is with the body control module, the mechanic will carry out the replacement procedure.

As with any other electrical car problem, the mechanic will disconnect all the power connections to the module. Once the power connections are off, the old control module will be taken off. By the way, only the glove box needs to be removed to gain access to the control module. So, you will only require a screwdriver for the job.

Once the old module is removed, the new one will be fitted in its place. Of course, everything else that was removed during the repair procedure will also be put back. Finally, the mechanic will test everything to see whether or not the job is completed to a customer’s satisfaction.
